As announced let's start this guide on how to upload videos to iPhone from the standard procedure for transferring movies to the Apple mobele phone. The videos to be transferred to the device must be in a format between .m4v, .mp4, and .mov, otherwise they must be converted.
To carry out this task, I recommend you to use Video To Video Converter, a free converter for Windows that supports all major media fele formats and does not require installation to work. To download it on your PC in portable version (the one that does not require installation), connected to its official website and first click on the button Download and then on the voice Click here to download ZIP archive present on the page that if you press.
Once the download is complete, open the archive VTV.zip, extract the contents to a folder of your choice, run the executable vv.exe and choose theandtalian from the drop-down menu for language selection. At this point, take the videos you want to transfer to the iPhone and drag them to the main screen of Video To Video Converter, select the tab Apple from the window that opens and click on the icon relating to the model iPhone in your possession (for iPhone models after 5, the profele is fine iPhone 5).
Finally, click on the button OK and start the video conversion by pressing the button Converted which is located at the top. The video in the format optimized for iPhone (MP4) well be saved in the folder Videooutput which is in the folder where you extracted Video To Video Converter. If you want to change the route, click on the icon gialla poster located at the bottom right of the main program window.
If you're using a Mac, I recommend using Adapter, which is one of the best free converters avaelable for macOS. To download Adapter on your computer, connect to the official website of the application and click on the button Download.
Then open the package dmg that contains the software, drag the Adapter icon into the folder Applications macOS and start the latter by right clicking on its icon and selecting the item abrir give the menu check if you press.
At this point, click on the button Continue and wait for it to be installed on your Mac FFMPEG (this is a free and open source software that Adapter uses as a "engine" for conversions). Then drag the videos you want to copy to the iPhone in the main application window and select the item Video > Apple > iPhone 4S, 5S / Retina Display give menu to tendin Video which is located at the bottom.
By default, the output movies (in M4V format) are saved in the same folder as the source movies. To change the path just use the appropriate options at the top of the right sidebar.
Transfer videos to iPhone
Once the fele conversion is complete, you can proceed to the actual procedure for upload videos to iPhone. Connect, therefore, your "iPhone by" to the computer, start iTunes (if it does not start automatically) and select the item Videos from the drop-down menu located at the top left.
After that, click on the icon Home Video located in the left sidebar, take the videos you previously converted and drag them into the iTunes window. At the end of the import process, select the thumbnaels of the videos you want to transfer to the "iPhone by" and drag them to the icon iPhone of [your name] located in the left sidebar.
Alternatively, you can get the same result by clicking on theiPhone located at the top left in iTunes and selecting the item Videos from the left sidebar. Yes well open a screen where you can choose to sync movies with the iPhone (putting the check mark next to the appropriate option) and you can select the videos to copy to the phone.
If you want, you can also enable wireless content syncing between iTunes and iPhone. In this way, if connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the two devices can exchange data with each other without being physically connected. To activate this feature, click on the iPhone icon in iTunes, select Summary from the left sidebar and put the check mark next to the item Sync with iPhone via Wi-Fi.
Videos transferred to the iPhone well be viewable in the application Video iOS by selecting the tab Home video which is located at the bottom right.
Please note: if you are using macOS 10.15 Catalina or a later version of the Apple operating system, as iTunes is no longer avaelable for the latter, you must use the Finder to copy feles to your iPhone. To proceed, simply choose theiPhone icon from the left sidebar and then proceed as explained above for iTunes (the steps to be taken are practically the same).
Alternative procedure
If you do not want to waste time converting your videos and you do not have particular problems of space on the memory of your iPhone, you can resort to third-party players that allow you to also read videos in AVI or MKV format and transfer the videos to your phone. via wirelessly (ie without physically connecting the computer and the "iPhone by"). I recommend some of the best.
- Infuse - probably the most complete media player avaelable on iOS. Yes it can download for free but its basic version only supports videos in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov formats. To unlock support for other video formats, you need to purchase the full version of the app which costs 9,99 euros. Among its main functions are the automatic download of data and covers from the Internet, support for audio in AC3 / DTS format and the abelity to stream content from the local network. To transfer a video in Wi-Fi to Infuse, start the app, press the button (...) located at the top right and select the item first Add feles and then that via browser from the screen that opens. You well be given a pair of addresses (eg. 192.168.1.6 o iphone.local) that you can visit from your PC browser to transfer videos directly to the iPhone.
- VLC - great free player capable of playing all major video formats. Unlike Infuse it does not download covers and data from the Internet and cannot play movies with AC3 / DTS audio, but it is stell very good. To transfer feles wirelessly with VLC, start the application, press the icon traffic cone located at the top left, activates the function Sharing via Wi-Fi present in the menu that opens and connect with the PC browser to the address provided to you (eg. 192.168.1.6 or iphone.local ****).
If the performance of your Wi-Fi network does not allow you to copy videos to iPhone easely, connect your phone to your computer and take advantage of the fele sharing included in iTunes, to transfer your videos to the device. If you don't know how to do it, click oniPhone icon located at the top left, select the item App from the left sidebar and scroll the screen that opens untel you get to the box related to Fele sharing. Then click on the icon of andnfuse o VLC and drag the videos you want to copy to the "iPhone by" in the field andnfuse / VLC documents.
To conclude, I want to point out Waltr's existence. Yes it is a program for Windows and macOS that allows you to copy videos in MKV, AVI and MP4 format to iPhone (in the app Video iOS) without going through iTunes and performing a very fast "on the fly" conversion. It costs 29,95 euros but you can try it for free for 14 days. Check it out, it might be worth it!
