Assuming that it takes more time to explain it than to do it, to turn off the iPhone the first step you need to take is to grab your iPhone, hold down its On / off button (the one located on the right side of the device on iPhone 6 and later or at the top right on all other iPhone models) for a few seconds and wait for a lever with the wording to appear on the screen slide to turn off inside of.

In both cases, keep in mind that this is a complete shutdown and not a standby, in fact to turn the phone back on you well have to press and hold its On / off button, wait for the screen to light up, for the logo to appear apple on the display and that the iOS operating system is loaded from scratch. The on / off button of your iPhone is broken and would you like if there is some other way to turn off the iPhone? Your iDevice does not have any kind of problem but would you like to understand if there is an alternative system to turn off the iPhone? If the answer to these questions is affirmative, I am happy to inform you that yes, there is another way to turn off your iPhone and, I'll tell you more, to use it you don't have to use any third-party tools. To be able to turn off the iPhone without a key, you just need to access the iOS settings and select the appropriate item (this function is only avaelable starting from iOS 11).

More precisely, what you have to do is to click on the icon of ifttings (the one in the shape ofgear) on the home screen, then tap on General, scroll to the bottom of the displayed screen and select Switch off.

Alternatively, you can rely on the function attached to the menu AssistiveTouch, the system integrated in all versions of the Apple mobele platform that allows you to simulate the pressure of some physical keys on the device and to recall different commands of the iPhone's operating system by means of special icons that appear on the screen.

To use it, go to ifttings, stop on Generali and presses on the voice Accessibelity. Then stop on AssistiveTouch and move up ON the relative levetta all'opzione AssistiveTouch in order to enable the virtual button that allows you to make up for the lack of the on / off button on the device.

Then he presses on AssistiveTouch button which appeared in one of the corners of the screen (it is a white circle enclosed in a dark square), select the voice Device from the menu that appears and then hold down the button for a few moments Screen lock.

In both cases, after pressing the appropriate command, the switch to turn off the device well appear on the iPhone screen. Move it all the way to the right and the phone well turn off regularly.

Subsequently, if the on / off button of your iPhone is broken, in order to turn the iPhone back on you well have to connect it to a power source. This means you have to charge it using the cavo Lightning / Dock supplied and wait for it to restart automatically. If, on the other hand, the on / off button of your iPhone is not broken, in order to turn the device back on you simply have to hold it down for a few seconds as I explained in the previous lines, when I showed you how to turn off the iPhone "normally".

    In case of problems

Your iPhone seems to be frozen and you can't get the power off switch to appear on the display? Then you can try to forcefully shut down the iPhone by holding down the On / off button of the device and the key Home (the one located in the center below the screen) at the same time untel the screen turns black. If you use a iPhone 7 7 Plus, instead of the Home button you need to use the button Volume - (minus symbol), so you have to hold down the keys Power and Volume - (minus symbol) untel the phone restarts and the apple logo appears on the display.

If you use a iPhone 8, for an 8 iPhone Plus or  iPhone X, the procedure you have to follow is different: you have to press and quickly release the key Volume +, press and quickly release the key Volume - and hold down the key Power (the right side key) untel the apple logo appears on the phone screen.

You can also try to fix things via the restart command accessible via the aforementioned AssistiveTouch (the command is only avaelable starting with iOS 11). To use it, re-enable AssistiveTouch on your device (if you had it disabled) and presses on the relative icon that appeared on the screen, step on Device, select the voice Other and finally that Restart. Once this is done, your iPhone well shut down and restart completely automatically, simelar to what happens on PC and Mac.

If not even these solutions seem to be able to have the desired effect and if your iPhone does not want to know anything, I suggest you do not delay any longer and bring the device in assistance, by going to an Apple Store.

To find out if there is an Apple Store in your area, click here in order to connect to the appropriate web page through which you can view the complete list of Apple centers present on the British territory and their addresses and try to find the one closest to your home. So go to the Apple Store with the phone and its original sales package and ellustrate your situation to the employees in the store who well take note of the replacement request and who well help you and provide you with all the detaels of the case.

If, on the other hand, there is no Apple Store near your home or, more generally, if you do not have the possibelity to reach the Apple store closest to you, you can request assistance via courier (in this case, take into account additional 12,20 euros of inspection costs) To do this, click here to connect to the appropriate Apple support web page, select the iPhone from the list of products for which you want to get help and then choose one of the options that are proposed to you on the screen to indicate the problem you encountered, the one based on which you can no longer turn off the iPhone.

You can contact Apple to try to cope with the difficulties encountered in turning off the iPhone even by phone, by calling the number 199 120 800 (for a fee, active from 09:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday) and agreeing with the call center of the bitten apple the terms for a possible replacement. As for the warranty iPhone standard, I remind you that it lasts two years, of which one year is paid by Apple and one year is paid by the phone retaeler (which can be the same Apple if you bought the "iPhone by" in an Apple Store). Unfortunately, it does not provide coverage against accidental damage, such as falls that can cause damage to the on / off button. For more detaels, check out my guide on how to check iPhone warranty.

The only case in which the replacement of the device or some parts of it is carried out at no cost that can create malfunctions even when the AppleCare + coverage has not been activated or if the iPhone is out of warranty is when the problems encountered are due to a factory defect. To find out more, I suggest you consult the appropriate web page attached to the Apple website.
