Before we get to the heart of this tutorial and explain to you how to put widgets on iPhone, it is necessary to make some premise regarding the types of widgets available.

First, you should know that widgets have been available on iPhone for some time, but only with the release of iOS 14 (in 2020) have they expressed their full potential. Initially, widgets could be added, without too much customization, exclusively in the Today view of your iPhone.

However, starting with iOS 14, it is also possible to add widgets to the iPhone home screen and customize their appearance, choosing from three different sizes. In addition, widget "containers", called smart collections, have been introduced, allowing you to collect different widgets within the same container and switch between widgets with a simple swipe.

Having also clarified this aspect, let's see in detail how to proceed.

How to put widgets on iPhone with photos

If your intention is to put widgets on iPhone with photos, it will be useful to know that the Photos application, factory installed on all Apple phones, implements the relative widget that allows you to view the photos available in the application in question.

To add the Photos widget, make a long tap anywhere without icons on the home screen until all the icons present begin to "vibrate". Then press the + button, top left, type "Photos" in the search widget field (or scroll down the screen) and tap the Photos item.

Now, choose the size of the widget you prefer and press the Add widget button, to place it on the home screen. To change the position of the widget you just added, do a long tap on it, drag it to the screen and to the position of your interest and press the end button.

If you are wondering how to choose which photos to display in the Photos widget you just added, I'm sorry to tell you that this cannot be done. In fact, the widget in question randomly displays the available shots from the Photos application.

To manually select the photos to be included in the widget, you must rely on third-party applications, such as Photos widget: simple. In this case, you will first need to launch the application in question, create an album with the photos you want to display in the widget and then add the related widget (e.g. Photowidget for the Photo Widget: Simple application), as I indicated in the previous lines.
