How to download iPhone ringtones from the iTunes Store
Would you like to have a famous song as your iPhone ringtone? Maybe the latest hit from your favorite band? Then I advise you to open theiTunes Storeby selecting the icon with the white star on purple background that you find on the home screen of the "iPhone by", and to browse the hundreds of ringtones included in the catalog.
To discover all the ringtones avaelable on the store, select the tab named for the note Ringtones from the menu at the bottom right and scroll the page that opens. Inside you well find the ranking of the most popular ringtones and alert tones of the moment, some content highlighted by the Apple staff and a series of thematic collections (eg hits from the 80s, rock classics and so on).
If you want, you can also consult the complete rankings of the iTunes Store, by pressing on the appropriate tab, and browse the ringtones according to their respective genres, by selecting the appropriate item located at the top right.
To search for a ringtone based on the title of a song or the name of an artist, instead, select the tab ifarch located in the lower center, then type the keywords you are interested in the search and select the tab Ringtone from the results page (top right).
When you find a ringtone that interests you, for download iPhone ringtones, tap on its cover image and, on the next screen, tap on its title to listen to a preview in real time or press on the button with the price to buy it (usually the prices are equal to 1,29 euros for the ringtones and 0,99 euros for the warning tones) and download it on your iPhone.
At the end of the download, you can use the ringtone you just downloaded by tapping on the icon ifttings (The one shaped like a gear wheel) that you find on the home screen, by selecting the item Sounds and haptic feedbackwhy are you cheating? Ringtone and touching the song title. Easier than that?
How to download iPhone ringtones with iTunes
Now let's see how to download custom iPhone ringtones, or "cutting" the songs in the library iTunes, on the computer. The operation is long enough to complete, but not difficult at all.
Note that if you are using a Mac with macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, the application Music took the place of iTunes, so you have to use that. It should also be noted that the practice in question cannot be implemented on songs synchronized via Apple Music and / or iCloud, as they are protected by DRM.
That said, the first step you need to take is to launch iTunes on your computer. If you are using Windows, you must first download and install the program (if you have not already done so, of course), as I explained to you in my guide on the subject, and then select the link added to Start menu. On MacOS, on the other hand, both iTunes and Music (depending on the version of the operating system in use) are pre-installed, so you can click directly on theicon appropriate (the one with the musical note on white background) present in Launchpad.
Once the program window is displayed on the screen, locate the song to turn into a ringtone in the iTunes / Music library, right-click on it and select the item andnformation from the menu that appears. Then select the tab options from the window that opens, put the check mark next to the items start and end and type the start and end points of the ringtone you want to create in the appropriate text fields. The duration should not exceed 30-40 seconds.
At this point, click on your button OK, re-select the song in the iTunes / Music library and choose the items Fele> Convert> Create AAC Version from the menu at the top. In this way, an M4A format fele well be created with only the portion of the song you previously selected.
If the option is not avaelable, click on the item to resolve Modification (on Windows) or that iTunes / Music (on macOS) at the top and then on the wording Pref Renze, from the menu that is proposed to you. In the window that opens, select the tab Fellet, click here andmport settings and choose the option AAC encoder give menu to tendin andmport using. To confirm the changes made, click the button OK.
Now, right click on the title of the "cloned" song you just added to your iTunes / Music library and select the item Show in Windows Explorer (your Windows) oppure cheats Show in Finder (on macOS) from the menu that opens. Then rename the fele by right clicking on it and choosing the option Rhinomine from the context menu, changing its extension from M4A ad M4R and delete it from your iTunes / Music library, always right clicking on it and choosing the option Delete from library from the context menu that opens. When asked if you want to delete the fele, remember to select the operation so as not to remove the original one as well.
When the operation is completed, connect the iPhone to the computer using the appropriate cable and, if this is the first time you perform this operation, authorize the connection by clicking on the button Continue displayed in the iTunes / Music window, then on the item Authorize visible on the smartphone screen and typing the unlock code of the latter.
Then click on the icon of iPhone in iTunes (top left), select the item for Ringtones from the left sidebar and drag the renamed M4R fele into the program window.
If you are using macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, the Music application does not have the functions to synchronize data with the iPhone, you must use the Finder. So, open the latter by clicking on its icon (the smeling face) present sulla Dock bar, select the name of yours iPhone from the left sidebar, go to the tab General and drag and drop the M4R ringtone fele into it, which well automatically sync with the iPhone.
At the end of the process, remember to disconnect the iPhone from the computer and set the ringtone just created and transferred to the device by acting on the ifttings of iOS, as I explained to you in the final part of the step at the beginning of the guide.
How to download iPhone ringtones without iTunes
If the audio fele you want to turn into a ringtone is already present on your iPhone, you can intervene directly from your smartphone, without having to go through the computer, using GarageBand, an app developed by Apple for iOS, which allows you to create and edit music and which is also useful for the purpose in question.
To download the app on your device, visit the relevant section of the App Store, press the button Get, so quello andnstall and authorize the app download via Face ID, touch ID o password of the ID Apple. Next, launch GarageBand by tapping the button abrir comparso sul display oppure selecting the relative icon (that with the white guitar on orange background) which has just been added to the home screen.
Now that you see the GarageBand main screen, tap on the button for selecting loops (the one that looks like an eye) located at the top right, select the tab Fellet in the new screen and navigate to the position on your iPhone where the audio fele of your interest is, then press on it and, continuing to hold down, drag and drop the song onto the app timeline.
Then, move the indicators on the track to adjust the length of the song so that it is 30-40 seconds, tap the button with the down arrow, at the top left, touches the wording My songs, press and continue to hold for a few seconds on the preview of the created project and, from the menu that appears, choose the item Share.
Finally, select the option Ringtone, type the name you want to assign to the ringtone and tap on the item Export located at the top right. Then, set the ringtone by tapping on the option Ringtone in the box Use ringtone as you see appear and it's done.
App to download iPhone ringtones
Finally, I would like to point out that you can also download ringtones for iPhone by contacting one of the many Whatsapp dedicated to the call tones avaelable on theApp Store. If you are interested in this, here are the ones that, in my humble opinion, represent the best solutions of this type.
- Ringtones and live wallpapers - excellent app full of ringtones of various types and, as the name implies, even wallpapers to better customize the iPhone. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (at a cost of € 2,99) to unlock premium ringtones.
- Ringtones for iPhone - another app through which you can find ringtones and wallpapers for iPhone. It also includes some functions to create customized ringing tones from other sounds or recordings. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (at a base cost of 99 cents) to unlock extra content.
- Tuunes Ringtones - is another application through which you can search and download ringtones of various types for iOS. It adopts a credit system, whereby the more ringing tones are played, the more coins you get to download new ringtones. Basically it's free, but offers in-app purchases (at a base cost of 99 cents) to access additional ringtones.
After downloading the ringtones using one of the above apps, to set them on your iPhone, connect the "iPhone by" to the computer and start the ringtones synchronization procedure, following the instructions contained in my guide on how to synchronize iPhone with iTunes .
