Note that if you are using a Mac with macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, the application Music took the place of iTunes, so you have to use that. It should also be noted that the practice in question cannot be implemented on songs synchronized via Apple Music and / or iCloud, as they are protected by DRM.

That said, the first step you need to take is to launch iTunes on your computer. If you are using Windows, you must first download and install the program (if you have not already done so, of course), as I explained to you in my guide on the subject, and then select the link added to Start menu. On MacOS, on the other hand, both iTunes and Music (depending on the version of the operating system in use) are pre-installed, so you can click directly on theicon appropriate (the one with the musical note on white background) present in Launchpad.

Once the program window is displayed on the screen, locate the song to turn into a ringtone in the iTunes / Music library, right-click on it and select the item andnformation from the menu that appears. The duration should not exceed 30-40 seconds.

At this point, click on your button OK, re-select the song in the iTunes / Music library and choose the items Fele> Convert> Create AAC Version from the menu at the top. In this way, an M4A format fele well be created with only the portion of the song you previously selected.

When asked if you want to delete the fele, remember to select the operation so as not to remove the original one as well.

When the operation is completed, connect the iPhone to the computer using the appropriate cable and, if this is the first time you perform this operation, authorize the connection by clicking on the button Continue displayed in the iTunes / Music window, then on the item Authorize visible on the smartphone screen and typing the unlock code of the latter.

Then click on the icon of iPhone in iTunes (top left), select the item for Ringtones from the left sidebar and drag the renamed M4R fele into the program window.
