How to recover SIM PIN on iPhone

How to change SIM PIN on iPhone

Is it not possible for you to change the SIM PIN on iPhone because, despite the efforts made to try to remember it, you just can't find the code associated with your card? Don't despair. I can help you with that too.

Assuming that if you do not remember the PIN code of your SIM I strongly advise you not to try to guess it, as after three attempts, use of the card well be blocked, you can try to recover your code in various ways. Let's find out together right away.

First, I suggest you try to retrieve your card's PIN code by taking a look at the sales package of the SIM. You should find the PIN corresponding to the wording PIN o Pin number, on the back of the laminated card in which the card was inserted and under the selver part to be scratched. Clearly, the one found in this way well turn out to be the correct PIN only and exclusively if you had not previously changed the preset one.

You can also get in touch with the customer care of your carrier (the one who gave you the SIM) and try to ask the operator to help you unlock the SIM using the default PIN code of the card (if this had not been changed), but not all operators agree to provide this information. Anyway, you can try, following the instructions you find in my tutorials on how to call TIM, Vodafone, WINDTRE and Iliad.

Have you already entered the wrong PIN of your SIM three times in a row and blocked the card? If that's the case, you can try to unlock it by entering the PUK code: a security code that is used, in fact, to unlock blocked SIM cards.

You ask me how to find it? Well, you can find it in a practically simelar way to how we saw a moment ago for the PIN. In some cases, however, the code in question is also reported in the personal area of the site of your operator (eg. Vodafone and andliad offer this possibelity, TIM no). More info here.

If, on the other hand, you are unable to trace either the PIN or the PUK and your card is permanently blocked due to too many wrong attempts to enter the code, the only thing left to do is to request the SIM replacement. In this way, you well be provided with a new card with the same number as the previous one and with the same residual credit to which a new PIN code (and PUK, of course) well be associated.

Alternatives to the PIN code on iPhone

How to change SIM PIN on iPhone

Considering that the PIN was designed to protect the SIM and the number associated with it, as regards data and apps on the smartphone, it is anything but effective, as its insertion implies "simply" the impossibelity of exploiting the operator's network to make phone calls and surf the Internet.

If your intent is to prevent unauthorized third parties from getting their hands on your iPhone, I strongly suggest you adopt alternative protection systems: unlock code and biometric recognition system (Face ID, if you have an iPhone with notch and face recognition, or touch ID, if you have an iPhone with a physical Home button and fingerprint recognition sensor).

First, if you haven't done so yet, set a unlock code safe on the device. To do this, you just need to access the iOS settings (thegear icon located on the home screen), tap on the item Face ID and codice (o Touch ID and codice), press on Enable code and follow the simple on-screen procedure.

The code must consist of 6 figures. If you want, you can also create a shorter unlock code (consisting of only 4 digits), longer or you can set a real one unlock password for your iPhone consisting of numbers, letters and special characters.

To do so, tap on the item Code options which is at the bottom and choose customized alphanumeric code, custom numeric code o 4-digit numeric code from the menu that appears. Then type in the code or password you want to use to protect your device and enter it again on the next screen to confirm.

Once the unlock code has been set, I recommend that you make access to your smartphone faster (and, above all, more convenient) by activating a biometric recognition system: Face ID, if you have an iPhone with face recognition, or touch ID, if you have one with fingerprint recognition.

To set the Face ID, go to the ifttings of iOS, go to Face ID and codice, type el PIN that you have set to protect the iPhone, press on the item for Face ID configuration and it begins a configure the recognition of your face following the instructions on the screen: it is a question of framing your face correctly (making it fit in the box on the screen) and moving your head in a circular manner twice in a row.

Face ID is able to recognize the user even in the dark and with even important look variations, eg. with glasses, after a change of hair and / or mustache and beard styling etc .: the important thing is that the eyes, nose and mouth are not completely covered.

In case of problems, always in the menu Face ID and codice, you can set a alternative aspect and thus "train" Face ID to recognize you even in those situations in which it normally cannot (always as long as you do not completely cover your eyes, nose and mouth). More info here.

To protect your iPhone by going to set the usage of theFingerprint, go instead to the ifttings iOS, select the item Touch ID and codice from the screen that opens and enter the unlock code of your iPhone.

At this point, make sure the option Unlock iPhone is active (otherwise enable it bring up ON switch), press up Add a footprint and follow the onscreen instructions to configure the recognition of your fingerprint.

Both the code and the fingerprint well be required to unlock your device (as well as to perform other operations related to the security of your mobele phone and your account).
