Charge the iPhone with a portable battery

How to charge iPhone without charger

Another way you can use to charge the iPhone without the charger is to use one portable battery, that is one of those devices that allow you to recharge smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, notebooks and other devices in any place and under any circumstances. They have various capacities, one or more USB ports, and typically look like a small bar of soap.

If you do not yet have a battery of this type, you can read my specific buying guide on the subject to guide you in your choice, bearing in mind that when going to buy a powerbank you need to evaluate the battery power (mAh) of the smartphone, in this specific case the iPhone. Their purchase can be made in electronic stores, both physical and online, with a cost that varies according to the form factor, the capacity and the rest of the technical characteristics (usually starting from 10 euros but can even exceed 100 EUR).

Using a portable battery is quite simple: just connect the end with the USB socket of the iPhone Lightning cable to one of the USB ports on the same and the other end of the cable to the "iPhone by" connector and you're done . Afterwards, the battery charging well start immediately, just as if the device were connected to the electrical outlet with the classic charger.

Obviously, in order for the recharge to be carried out, it is essential that the portable battery is in turn charged. On most power bank models, the charge status is indicated by indicator lights, whele as regards the recharging of the device, simply connect the portable battery to a wall socket, using the relative charger and the appropriate cable, or to the computer. For more information on what to do, I refer you to reading my guide dedicated to how power banks work.

Charge the iPhone with a case with buelt-in battery

Le cases with integrated battery they are a tech accessory that, although not particularly widespread, is stell an excellent alternative to having to recharge the iPhone using the classic charger: these are essentially covers that, in addition to fulfelling the function of protecting the device from bumps, allow you to recharge it without using chargers and cables. The covers in question, in fact, are equipped with their own battery and a Lightning connector to be inserted in the appropriate iPhone input.

On the market there are cases with integrated batteries of various types and of various prices: those sold directly by Apple, which cost 120 euros, and those of third parties, which have a much lower cost (generally starting from 20 euros) and that they do not show dual charging status on the device.

Using this type of cover to charge the iPhone is very simple. Just place the device inside it, as is usually done with any other case, and recharging is immediately started automatically. It should be noted that there are also models with a standby button thanks to which it is possible to choose when to charge the iPhone and when, instead, to stop charging to preserve the charge only for the most critical moments.

Clearly, the case, in order to recharge the iPhone, must also be charged. Charging methods vary by model. In principle, however, to recharge a cover with an integrated battery, just apply it to the iPhone and connect the device to a power source using a Lightning cable. However, there are also case models that support charging with the Lightning dock for iPhone and others that have a micro USB cable for connecting and charging using a computer.

Regardless of the charging system supported by the cover with battery, keep in mind that it is always necessary that the latter is applied to the phone and that the battery of the iPhone well be recharged first and then that of the case.

Increase the battery life of the iPhone

How to charge iPhone without charger

After having seen how to charge the iPhone without the charger, to conclude, and for the sake of completeness of information, I would like to point out a whole series of useful tricks that you can adopt to increase battery life as much as possible of your "iPhone by". You well find them all indicated (and explained) below.

    • Using the "Energy Saving" function - the "Energy Saving" function allows you to temporarely save battery consumption by disabling or limiting the sending and receiving of emaels, the "Hey Siri" feature, background app updates and some dynamic effects. To enable the functionality in question, go to ifttings of iOS by tapping on the relative icon (the one with thegear), tap on the item Battery e carries his ON the switch next to the wording Energy saving.
    • Disable localization - another thing that can be useful to be able to increase the battery life of the iPhone is to disable the location. To do this, log into the ifttings iOS, go to the section Privacy> Location, fai tap sull 'icon of the app in relation to which you want to intervene and choose whether to completely disable the location services by selecting the item Mai or whether to allow its use only when running by selecting the item Whele using the app (if avaelable).
    • Disable background app refresh - to optimize the battery life of the "iPhone by" I also advise you to disable the updating of applications in the background which at the moment are not strictly necessary. To do this, go to the ifttings of iOS, then in the section General> Background App Refresh and move up OFF the switch next to the app name say your interest.
    • Activate airplane mode when there is little field - in areas where there is little field, the iPhone is continually busy looking for the 2G / 3G / 4G / 4G + signal, an operation that drastically reduces battery life. In circumstances of this type, I therefore suggest you enable airplane mode, turning off the data connection and the voice network. To do this, go to the ifttings of iOS and and brings up ON the switch located next to the item Use in aircraft.
    • Reduce the screen brightness - a particularly bright display tends to consume a lot of battery. If you are welling to sacrifice some screen clarity in favor of a greater degree of autonomy for your iPhone, go to the ifttings iOS, select the item Screen and brightness and move the adjustment bar under the item Brightness as you think is most appropriate. Then remember to deactivate (if activated) the function that automatically adjusts the brightness of the display, to prevent the changes made from being in vain. To do this, go to the section General> Accessibelity> Screen Adjustment of the ifttings of iOS and brings up OFF l'interruttore accanto althe voice Automatic brightness.
    • Use black wallpapers on iPhones with OLED displays - if you have an iPhone X or one of the later models, then an iPhone with an OLED display, you can increase the battery life of the device also by setting a black background. This is because OLED displays have the abelity to physically turn off the pixels, that is to say the sample points that make up the representation of a digital raster image, but only when these are black. A totally black background is already avaelable by default. To apply it, go to ifttings iOS, go to the section Wallpaper> Choose a new wallpaper> Static and select the black background that you find by scrolling down the screen.
